  1. I think that the best solution for all Fabtotum customers is a class action (Makerbot docet) Yes I think you have a good point AMaker. I had discussions with several other unhappy buyers, the problem is that some people are backing down as they think a court case will be an expensive and time consuming process. But if you get support from your consumer rights office or organization it’s a lot easier than trying to manage this process on your own. In one way a class action could be effective, on the other hand some cases are unique. The question is also if you can open a civil case or a prosecution (criminal case) depending on the circumstances. 3. An update, I am taking Fabtotum to court, since we can’t agree about a refund for my defective unit. I had a discussion with them, and it was the same old story, as a twist their support system suddenly stopped to work so it was impossible to reply, that didn’t impress my legal advisor sitting next to me... In fact they earlier refused to do anything about my defective printer, and when I told them I will go to court they suddenly want to do the "right thing", at least the Fabtotum way. To be fair, they offered me a partial refund or repair of my unit. The problem is that they earlier refused to do anything, and that violates both their own terms of conditions and EU consumer rights. I don’t trust them, and I don’t think they are capable of repairing my unit so it will live up to the promises they made in their false marketing statements. And I am surprised, their interpretation of EU consumerrigths are bogus. This court case will cost them thousands of Euros and a lot of time, and they could have avoid this by confessing that they did the wrong thing, apologize, and give me a full refund. If you are having problem with this company, contact your local office for consumer rights or an organization for consumer rights. They can help you for free, and don’t trust this company, they are only trying to avoid the cost for refunds. Sadly, there are probably hundreds of buyers around the world that can’t use their Fabtotum printers, and got the answer that Fabtotum refuses to do anything about it. I got news for you, take them to court. For a buyer of this bogus product it’s a win win situation. You have a chance to a full refund, no matter what Fabtotum says, and if you’re not getting a full refund, you at least have a court decision that the Fabtotum have to fix your defective unit, and if they fail, you will get a court decision for a full refund for sure. Don’t take my word for it, check this out with your EU consumerrigths office. If anyone translates this to Italian, you have my permission.
  4. Yes, the Fabtotum policy is ridiculous. It’s like if you buy a new car, and the warranty is void if you change oli by yourself. I don’t think this is legal, and everybody that owns a 3D printer knows that you must access the feeder and Bowden tube sometimes, at least for cleaning. If filament breaks or get stuck in the Bowden or feeder, it’s not reasonable that you should send the unit for service. It’s a normal operation to keep the unit running, so this policy is very strange. I discussed this with a local seller of printers, and they had hard to believe that a manufacturer behave this way.
  5. I live in Sweden, and i paid 825 Euros for the printer. Fabtotum charged 75 Euros for shipping and handling, so the total cost was 900 Euros.
  6. Hello! Sorry for writing in English, I hope that’s ok. After waiting for my Fabtotum for almost 9 months, I finally got my unit. The delivery time I expected was 3 months, and for various reasons there were delays time after time. When the unit finally arrived, I couldn’t get a decent bed calibration. The values in the calibration guide were shifting all the time, and I was using exactly the same settings. Running the calibration process several times after each other with the same bed higth, gave different readings, sometimes a difference up to 150 degrees between two calibrations.. I contacted Fabtotums support, the answer was to read the manual/wiki. Well, it was obvious that the sensors were defective. Another fact is that the bed was touching the back panel of the printing area, scraping off paint from the chassis. And that’s a brand new factory calibrated and tested unit. The cooling is another problem; one side of the print always comes out defective. Well, in some cases you can use an additional fan, but then you can’t adjust fan speed automatically during the printing process. Another issue is the extruder, it’s defective. Filament curls upwards and easily get stuck on the outside of the print head. As I couldn’t calibrate the bed properly, the extruder kept touching the bed/print object, and the extruder got clogged. On top of that the Bowden tube constantly got stuck in the chassis, sometimes the tube was pressed out in the printing area. Well, you can solve the problem with the Bowden using the printer without the back of the chassis, and keep an eye on it so it doesn’t get tangled. The chassis is of a very poor quality, the magnets holding the sides of the chassis was poorly glued and fell off, and the plastic fittings for the screws breaks easily. On top of that Fabtotum claims that you have no warranty if you open the back panel of the printer. And believe me, the Bowden will get stuck, and filament will break, and you must remove the back panel to solve this. This Fabtotum policy makes no sense to me.I have tried to get my printer fixed by Fabtotum, suggesting a return to their factory for solving the issues, or send me the parts, and if they don’t want to do those, give me a refund. Well, they have answered, but just going on about their development work, and suggesting I should read their wiki/forum. They just ignore the fact that my brand new Fabtotum wasn’t working properly, I cant even use it today, because the problems got worse. The Fabtotum is not my first 3D printer, and probably not my last. I had minor issues with other printers, and there was no problem to get replacement parts and support from the manufacture. The saddest thing is that I really like the Fabtotum concept, in my opinion it has a great potential. But they need to update and fix the first generations of the printer, the buyers didn’t sign up to pay to become beta testers, they were expecting a reliable working product. For their own sake, I hope that they will make an effort to get a community of satisfied users. Right now I am very disappointed, having waited a long time and spent my money on o non functional product. Fabtotum needs to do the right thing here, and take care of their customers. Without the people that bought their early versions, they would not have the funds to continue development, and valuable feedback from users. If they just ignore unhappy buyers, I don’t think this company will be around for long. In the long run they will benefit from satisfied customers, and they can’t just ignore reclamations when they know there are well known technical/quality issues. They have some new interesting products under development, but who is going to buy them? Not their old disappointed and neglected customers, that’s for sure. To be fair, my printer is the second generation according to Fabtotums information. I can’t tell if the printer that’s on sale today has all the needed upgrades/quality improvements to solve the common issues with earlier generations. My advice is to think twice before dealing with Fabtotum, in my opinion they show no respect for laws and consumer rights. Refusing to fix a defective brand new product or make a refund is not the way to build a good reputation and customer relations.
